Crown Point Animal Hospital

I had my 2 dogs teeth cleaned at this clinic. I spent close to 3000.00 in totality. I did not complain about pricing because I believed my dogs were going to be cared for properly. Dr. Kelly gave only one of my two poodles fluids during general anesthesia. Both my poodles weigh less than 10 pounds. I also shared that my male dog threw up before the appt. This made him more dehydrated considering they must fast before surgery. When I picked my dogs up my girl that was given fluids was fine but my poor boy was practically on deaths door. Also he had an open surgical site on his body where she removed a sebaceous cyst . She stapled the site but it was sloppy and still open. He was still bleeding when I got into the car. The girl from the front helped me walk my dogs to the car cuz I had two. I asked her for a gauze cuz he was still bleeding —she brought my boy back in back where Dr. Kelly emptied 1/4 - 1/2 a bottle of glue all over an area that only needed a very small amount. It looked like she dropped the bottle on him. My boy dog was moaning and making sounds my husband and I had never heard him make after being under sedation, it was like he couldn’t come out of it completely. It was 30 hours and my dog had not urinated. I was concerned so I called the office. The girl at he front desk was trying to tell me it is normal etc. she did not even listen to what I was saying. She interrupted me before I could say urinate and not what she assumed I was saying which was dephicate….that is when I lost it. I know it is not normal for a dog to 24+ hours without urinating. So needless to say I let her know that it is not normal and I was extremely concerned and that I wanted to speak with the doctor. I was told she had not arrived for the day yet. There was another lady at the front desk who was quite professional and genuinely kind and helpful—Whe explained that the doctor was not there yet and would probably be there in 1/2 hour or so. I waited nervously for a call back. I believe I was on hour 36 when I called another vet and explained the situation of my dog -they told me that I should bring my dog in and sounded surprised when I told them he was given no fluids during anesthesia for a teeth cleaning. I took my dog outside to see if he would urinate before I journeyed out to see another doctor and he finally did go. Dr. Kelly called me 6 hours after I talked to the girls at the front desk. She told me she was in surgery and was not going to walk away from her patient as she would not do that to my dogs if she were operating on them. I thought well considering I’m close to an emergency point having a dog that has not urinated in well over 24 hours that she would have called me right when she got in to the office—-not go into surgery and deal with me later. Dr. Kelly acted as if she was in surgery when I had called and I know she was not. If she is going to tell lies she should at least get the story straight with the girls at the front. —After I realized she was willing to lie and has no follow up for post surgery procedures and treated my baby boy like a farm animal I will never go back nor recommend this place even. I did not even return to get the stitches taken out of my dogs mouth nor the staples removed from his body. Dr. Kelly was unprofessional and dishonest which tells me her ethical standards are lacking. I received a lack of care, sloppy work and lazy follow through. I write this review to warn others that love their animals and I know you do —Go elsewhere!

Very kind and compassionate staff. Dr. Kelly is a consumate professional and explains everything very well. I found my new vet!

Awful veterinarian clinic and expensive. Took 2 hours despite having an appointment. They did not seem knowledgeable on how to handle a dog’s broken nail. Husband had to argue with them to get her foot bandaged to stop her from licking at it to avoid infection. Go elsewhere.

If I could give zero stars, I would!!!!!!!!!!! We trusted Crown Point Animal Hospital with the care of our beloved male dog, and that trust was completely misplaced!! For months, we were repeatedly told our dog’s worsening symptoms were due to allergies, chronic infections, or “just the BREED” Instead of running the necessary tests or investigating further, we were given vague explanations and prescriptions that didn’t help. By the time we sought a second opinion at Purdue, it was too late—our dog was diagnosed with Sino nasal carcinoma that had already spread extensively!! We were devastated to learn that what was dismissed for so long as “normal” by DR KELLY was actually something serious and treatable if caught earlier. We lost our sweet dog because this clinic chose guesswork over proper diagnostics!!!!! Please, do not take your pet here if you want real answers and thorough care. We will never get our dog back, but we hope this review helps someone else avoid the pain we are living with after fighting hard to keep him. REPLY TO YOUR UNKIND AND MISTAKEN RESPONSE: i brought my female dog twice and was dissatisfied with your service, but my boyfriends dogs death lies on you and I'm happy to post all the receipts and records of all the wrong diagnostics given to us by you several times that month.
